Justice Department Charges Iraqi National with Terrorism for Targeting U.S. Interests
The U.S. Department of Justice has announced the arrest of Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, an Iraqi national and senior member of the U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization Kata'ib Hizballah. Al-Saadi faces six counts of terrorism-related offenses, including directing nearly 20 attacks across Europe and the United States. He was apprehended overseas and brought to the U.S., where he appeared before a federal court in Manhattan. The charges allege that Al-Saadi coordinated attacks targeting U.S. and Israeli interests and plotted further attacks on U.S. soil. The FBI and other federal agencies collaborated in the investigation, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by Iranian-backed terrorist groups.
