Ukraine Government Plans to Increase African Immigration to Address Workforce Shortages
The Ukrainian government, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, has announced plans to increase immigration from African countries to address workforce shortages exacerbated by ongoing conflict with Russia. Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President, stated that the government will revise its list of 'risky' countries to facilitate hiring from Africa. This move aims to support businesses struggling with labor shortages due to the war, which has resulted in significant casualties and a large number of Ukrainians living abroad as refugees. The Center for Strategic and International Studies estimates that Ukraine has suffered between 500,000 and 600,000 casualties, including those killed, wounded, or missing. The government also plans to develop a strategy to expand relations with African nations.
