India Tourism Development Corporation Celebrates Milestones, Emphasizes Tourism Growth
The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, alongside 70 years of The Ashok hotel's service in New Delhi. Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat lauded ITDC for its distinguished contributions to the nation's travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors, describing it as a 'multidimensional growth engine.' The event highlighted ITDC's role in expanding tourism beyond traditional hospitality into diverse verticals. Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram announced an initiative to train 1,500 tribal homestay operators in hospitality standards, financial literacy, and digital operations to strengthen community-based livelihood opportunities. This training aims to empower tribal communities through skill development and generate sustainable employment.
