China's AI-Driven Robotics Boom Faces Challenges Amid IPO Rush
China is experiencing a surge in investment in embodied AI, a field combining artificial intelligence with robotics to create machines capable of navigating the physical world. Over the past two years, approximately 370 startups have entered this sector, with around 50 pursuing listings in Hong Kong or the Chinese mainland. Unitree Robotics, a leading company in this field, is preparing to list on Shanghai's STAR Market with an expected valuation of 40 billion yuan ($6 billion). Despite the rapid growth and high valuations, the industry faces challenges such as fragmented training data and high deployment costs, which could hinder profitability.
