Marcos Urges ASEAN Unity Amid Global Crises
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called for strengthened cooperation among Southeast Asian nations to tackle conflicts, climate change, economic uncertainty, and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence. As ASEAN marked its 59th anniversary, Marcos emphasized the need for the region to prepare for a rapidly changing world. He highlighted the ongoing Middle East conflict as a reminder of how crises can disrupt stability and economies far beyond their origins. The Philippines, serving as ASEAN chair, aims to turn the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 into concrete action, focusing on energy and food security, and the safety of ASEAN nationals.
