Zelenskyy Asserts Russia's Diminished Capacity to Seize Ukrainian Territory
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russia can no longer capture more territory than Ukraine can liberate, marking a shift in the dynamics of the ongoing conflict. In an interview with 'Face the Nation,' Zelenskyy highlighted that since December 2025, Russia has been losing its battlefield initiative, with increasing troop losses. He emphasized the need for a diplomatic resolution before the next winter, contingent on sustained pressure from Ukraine's Western allies and internal pressures within Russia. Zelenskyy also discussed potential European mediators for future negotiations, stressing the importance of maintaining sanctions on Russia to weaken its military capabilities.
