BRICS Meeting in Indore Focuses on Global Agricultural Issues and Food Security
A five-day meeting of BRICS member countries commenced on June 9, 2026, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, focusing on critical global agricultural issues. The conference, held under India's BRICS chairmanship, aims to address food security, climate-friendly smart agriculture, agricultural trade, and farmer welfare. The Agriculture Working Group will conduct deliberations until June 11, with officials from member countries participating. India's Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Secretary Atish Chandra led the inaugural session. Following the official-level meetings, the BRICS Agriculture Ministers are scheduled to meet on June 12 and 13. BRICS, an intergovernmental organization, includes 11 major emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Indonesia.
