Acting AG Todd Blanche Addresses January 6 Rioter Compensation Concerns
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has clarified that the conduct of January 6 rioters will be a factor in the review process for claims to the new anti-weaponization fund. In an interview with CNN, Blanche stated that the commission responsible for the fund will consider the actions of claimants, particularly those who assaulted law enforcement officers. This comes amid concerns that individuals involved in the January 6 attack could access taxpayer funds if they were prosecuted by the Justice Department. The fund, part of a broader restitution effort, will be managed by a commission appointed by President Trump’s attorney general, with members serving without pay.
