Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Analyzes Lebanon-Syria Relations Amid Regional Shifts
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has published an analysis on the evolving relationship between Lebanon and Syria. Sohaib Jawhar, a Lebanese researcher, highlights that Syria is redefining its approach towards Lebanon, moving from direct political and military influence to a more institutional relationship. This shift is characterized by cooperation on border security, intelligence sharing, and economic projects. The analysis suggests that Syria's new leadership is focused on rebuilding the state and economy rather than engaging in military interventions in Lebanon. The relationship is also influenced by broader regional dynamics, including the decline of Iranian influence and the strategic interests of countries like Türkiye and the Gulf states.
