President Trump's New Air Force One Completes Flight Testing Amid Ethical Concerns
A former Qatari Boeing 747-8 Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) has completed flight testing and is set to be used by President Donald Trump as Air Force One. The aircraft, gifted by Qatar to the Pentagon in 2025, has undergone modifications and is ready for a new presidential livery, according to the US Air Force. This jet, labeled as the 'VC-25B Bridge aircraft,' is intended to fill a gap perceived by Trump between the existing VC-25A and two delayed VC-25Bs that Boeing is developing. The USAF has prioritized bringing this bridge aircraft into service, involving modifications by L3Harris, known for its executive communications systems. The effort also included using other 747-8Is for pilot training and spare parts. However, the gifting of the aircraft has raised ethical concerns, particularly regarding its value and Trump's intention to include it in his Presidential library.
