UN Highlights Challenges for Gaza Farmers Amid Ongoing Israeli Aggression
Palestinian farmers in Gaza are working to revive agricultural production after significant damage to greenhouses during recent conflicts. The United Nations reports that these farmers require essential supplies such as tools, seeds, fertilizer, and water to resume cultivating crops like cucumbers and tomatoes. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has expanded its cash assistance program to support approximately 1,500 farmers during the 2026 planting season, aiming to provide fresh produce for over 100,000 people. However, ongoing Israeli aggression continues to restrict access to farmland and essential agricultural supplies, exacerbating the challenges faced by these farmers. UN agencies also report continued displacement issues and have provided educational support for children in the region.
