Colombia Hit by 7.4 Magnitude Earthquake, Tremors Felt Near Venezuela Border
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck Colombia, with the epicenter located near San Jose del Palmar in the Choco department. The earthquake, recorded at a depth of 107 km, was felt across various parts of Colombia and near the Venezuela border. The U.S. Tsunami Warning System measured the quake at 7.1 but confirmed no tsunami threat. Significant damage and injuries were reported in Quibdo, the capital of Choco, prompting local authorities to assess the situation and prepare for potential aftershocks.
