Rep. James Comer Continues Jeffrey Epstein Investigation Despite Case Closure
Kentucky Republican Rep. James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is actively pursuing a congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. This probe is moving forward even though President Trump and the Justice Department have officially closed the case. Comer indicated that the ongoing investigation could lead to criminal referrals. He expressed hope that some victims would agree to testify in upcoming congressional hearings, which he views as a crucial step toward potentially reopening the case. Comer also mentioned that victims he has spoken with are upset about the confirmation of Matt Blanche as the next United States Attorney General, though he noted that issues regarding the federal government's treatment of victims span several administrations. He emphasized the committee's commitment to holding accountable anyone involved with Epstein, stating that Ghislaine Maxwell should remain imprisoned.
