Asian Development Bank Launches Facility to Enhance Critical Minerals Supply Chains in Asia-Pacific
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has introduced a new financing facility aimed at developing critical minerals supply chains across Asia and the Pacific. This initiative is designed to support the growing demand for clean energy, batteries, electric vehicles, and digital technology. ADB President Masato Kanda emphasized the importance of the region not only as a source of raw materials but also as a hub for jobs, technology, and value creation. The facility, known as the Critical Minerals-to-Manufacturing Financing Partnership Facility, aims to transition the region from mining to higher-value industries such as processing, manufacturing, and recycling. It includes a grant window and a catalytic finance window to support project preparation, policy reform, and investment across critical minerals value chains.
