Jack Kerouac Center in Lowell Launches $25 Million Fundraising Campaign for Renovation and Expansion
The Jack Kerouac Center in Lowell, Massachusetts, has initiated an artistic fundraising campaign to support its renovation and expansion. The project, estimated to cost at least $25 million, aims to transform the former St. Jean Baptiste Church on Merrimack Street into a dynamic cultural destination. Plans for the center include museum and exhibition spaces, a 1,500-capacity performance venue, a smaller 125-capacity performance space, recording and media facilities, educational areas, archival research facilities, a bar and restaurant, and spaces for community gatherings. The architectural renderings, designed by Boston-based Flansburgh Architects, intend to preserve the historic character of the church while creating a modern cultural hub.
