Rain Cancels Coca-Cola 600 Qualifying, Tyler Reddick on Pole
Persistent rain at Charlotte Motor Speedway has disrupted NASCAR Cup Series qualifying for the Coca-Cola 600, placing points leader Tyler Reddick on the pole. The race, scheduled for Sunday night, will feature Reddick's No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota starting first, followed by Ty Gibbs in the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Rain has also affected other events, including the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and Craftsman Truck Series, forcing lineups to be set by NASCAR's rulebook. This year's race carries a somber tone following the recent passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion, due to severe pneumonia and sepsis. Austin Hill will replace Busch in the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, starting 13th. Katherine Legge, attempting to compete in both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600, will start 37th.
