James Roscoe, who served as the deputy head of mission at the British embassy in Washington, has unexpectedly left his post. Roscoe had been acting as the interim ambassador following the removal of Peter Mandelson. His departure was confirmed by a brief statement from the Foreign Office, which did not provide further details. Roscoe was considered a potential candidate for the ambassador role, which was eventually filled by Christian Turner. During his tenure, Roscoe played a significant role in President Trump's state visit to the UK and the king's US state visit.
