Minnesota County Investigates Federal Officers for Potential Kidnapping and False Imprisonment
Officials in Ramsey County, Minnesota, are launching an investigation into the actions of federal law enforcement officers, potentially involving charges of kidnapping, burglary, and false imprisonment. Ramsey County Attorney John Choi and Sheriff Bob Fletcher announced their intention to seek information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which has so far refused to cooperate with state and local investigations. The investigation is part of a broader effort to examine the conduct of federal officers during the Trump administration's immigration crackdown, which included the deployment of approximately 3,000 federal officers to Minnesota. The state and Hennepin County have previously sued the Trump administration to access evidence related to three shootings by federal officers in Minneapolis, including the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
