This meeting is part of Washington's ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The meeting coincides with a memorial service for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, a staunch supporter of Ukraine, who recently passed away. While Kyiv has not confirmed Zelensky's attendance at the White House or the memorial service, the talks are seen as a critical step in attempting to restart negotiations to end the nearly four-year war. Zelensky has been in communication with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner to explore new diplomatic avenues.
