Israeli Military Intercepts Gaza-Bound Aid Flotilla in International Waters
Israeli military forces have intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian aid mission aimed at delivering supplies to Gaza, in international waters near the Greek island of Crete. The flotilla, consisting of 58 vessels, was reportedly surrounded by Israeli military speedboats, drones, and armed raiding parties. According to the flotilla's organizers, the Israeli forces used communications jamming technology and threatened the participants at gunpoint. Seven of the vessels have been captured, and communication with 11 others has been lost. The flotilla's spokesperson, Gur Tsabar, condemned the actions as illegal under international law, accusing Israel of illegal detention and potential kidnapping. The flotilla, which set sail from Italy, was carrying over 400 civilians from multiple countries, aiming to deliver aid to the war-torn Gaza Strip.
