Boston Brothers Catch Rare Tiger Shark Off Cape Cod Beach
Nate Rouette and his brother Nelson experienced an unexpected and rare catch while fishing off a beach near Falmouth, Cape Cod. The brothers, who have a history of fishing in the region, reeled in a juvenile tiger shark, a species not commonly found in the area. The catch occurred during a late-night fishing trip, where they initially anticipated catching sand sharks. The tiger shark, approximately 5 feet long and weighing 40 pounds, was caught using eel bait. After capturing the shark, the brothers released it back into the water. The presence of tiger sharks in Massachusetts waters is reportedly increasing due to warming waters, according to John Chisholm, a shark researcher with the New England Aquarium.
