Florida's First Fall Cold Front Arrives This Week
Florida is set to experience its first significant cold front of the season, bringing cooler and drier weather to the state starting September 24, 2026. The National Weather Service Tallahassee forecasts a drop in temperatures, with lows in the low to mid-60s °F (15-18 °C) and highs in the mid-80s °F (29-30 °C) for North Florida. Central Florida and the east coast will also see gusty winds and temperatures dipping into the upper 60s °F (20 °C) by Friday night, September 25. South Florida, however, faces heavy rainfall, with localized amounts potentially reaching up to 12 inches through September 28. This comes after an August that was the second warmest in 132 years, with 12 counties breaking heat records.
