Ukrainian Drone Explosion Near Bulgarian Gas Pipeline Raises NATO Security Concerns
A drone, believed to be associated with Ukrainian forces, exploded near a Trans-Balkan pipeline compressor station in Bulgaria, prompting the deployment of troops and counter-drone systems. The drone, identified as a Maya decoy model, entered Bulgarian airspace undetected and detonated in a sunflower field close to critical energy infrastructure. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry denied intentional targeting, attributing the incident to the fog of war from Russia's invasion. Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev plans to address the issue at the North Atlantic Council, highlighting the need for improved air defense capabilities.
