Spain Implements Quarantine for Hantavirus-Affected Cruise Passengers
Spain is preparing to receive the expedition cruise ship Hondius, which is en route to the Canary Islands following a hantavirus outbreak on board. The outbreak, involving the Andes strain of the virus, has resulted in three deaths and several symptomatic cases among the 150 passengers. Spanish health officials have established strict quarantine protocols for all disembarking passengers, who will be isolated at the Gómez Ulla Central Defense Hospital in Madrid. Each individual will undergo PCR testing upon arrival and after seven days, with additional measures for those showing symptoms.
