Cooler Temperatures Aid Firefighters in Battling Spokane Wildfires, Hundreds Displaced
Firefighters in Spokane, Washington, are making progress in containing three major wildfires that have burned over 8,000 acres and destroyed more than 700 structures. The fires, fueled by gusty winds, have forced hundreds of residents to evacuate their homes. Cooler temperatures have provided some relief, allowing crews to strengthen containment lines and manage spot fires. One of the fires, the Old Trails Fire, is suspected to have been started by arson, with a suspect charged and awaiting arraignment. Despite the progress, the fires remain active, posing ongoing threats to the community.
