California Prison Officials Claim Tory Lanez Assumed Risk in $100 Million Stabbing Lawsuit
California prison officials are arguing that rapper Tory Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, accepted the risks associated with his housing classification and assignment, thereby contributing to the jail stabbing he suffered in May of last year. This defense was presented in an October 7 court filing by the California attorney general’s office on behalf of T. Valdez, the acting warden at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, who is a defendant in Lanez's $100 million lawsuit. The filing claims Lanez "consented to his prison housing classification and assignment and assumed any risk alleged to be associated with that housing." However, the court document does not specify what Lanez agreed to, when he agreed to it, or the details of the housing arrangement. Lanez is currently serving a ten-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion and was moved to California Men’s Colony after the stabbing incident.
