Israel Conducts Strikes in South Lebanon Amid Rising Tensions
Israel has launched a series of strikes across southern Lebanon following evacuation orders from over a dozen locations. This military action comes a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces had advanced deeper into Lebanese territory. The strikes have reportedly targeted areas near the medieval Beaufort castle, with Lebanon's army stating that two soldiers were wounded by an Israeli drone strike near Nabatieh. These developments occur in the context of ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides accusing each other of violating a ceasefire that was supposed to take effect on April 17. The Lebanese government, led by President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, has condemned the Israeli actions and is seeking to intensify diplomatic efforts to halt the attacks.
