Michigan Representative Kristen McDonald Rivet Joins 'Promise to America' Initiative, Advocating for Bipartisan Solutions
Michigan Representative Kristen McDonald Rivet is among several Democratic state legislators who have signed the 'Promise to America' oath, a new initiative launched by a national Democratic centrist organization. This organization, established in June with the assistance of New York State Assemblyman Tom Suozzi and California State Assemblyman Adam Gray, aims to promote problem-solving through consensus. The 'Promise to America' outlines six commitments, including a focus on 'growth, competition, and broad prosperity,' explicitly stating, 'We are capitalists, not socialists.' The initiative seeks to counter the growing influence of democratic socialists within the Democratic Party, particularly in states like New York. Rivet joins at least seven other Democratic lawmakers who have signed the pledge, including Don Davis of North Carolina and Susie Lee of Nevada. The organization's goal is to have at least one representative from each of the 50 states sign the oath before the upcoming general election.
