Hampton, Virginia, Experiences Power Outage Affecting Over 2,000 Customers Due to Tree on Power Line
More than 2,000 customers in Hampton, Virginia, experienced a power outage, primarily in the Northampton area, including parts of Todds Lane and Big Bethel Road. Dominion Energy initially investigated the cause, which was later determined to be a tree falling on a power line. The outage affected approximately 1,600 customers in Hampton. Additionally, over 500 customers in Newport News were without power in the Burkdale area, though that number had decreased from an earlier 1,300. As of an 8:30 p.m. update, the outage in Hampton had reduced to 660 customers, with restoration efforts underway. The Newport News outage was largely resolved.
