Cairns Airport Expands International Connectivity with New Korean Air Links
Cairns Airport is experiencing a surge in international connectivity, highlighted by the introduction of seasonal flights from Korea. This development is part of a broader increase in international capacity, with Cathay Pacific resuming direct flights from Hong Kong and Singapore Airlines expanding its schedule. The recent arrival of 2,800 Amway Korea delegates on charter flights has provided a significant economic boost to the region, estimated at $13 million. Cairns Airport CEO Richard Barker emphasized the importance of these connections in showcasing the airport's capabilities and fostering future opportunities with Korean airlines. The influx of visitors has also benefited local businesses, with increased demand for tours, dining, and retail services.
