Republicans Face Potential Midterm Election Setback Amidst Declining Public Approval for President Trump's Policies
As the U.S. midterm election campaign enters its final stages, the Republican Party is reportedly facing significant challenges, with polling data indicating a decline in public approval for President Trump and his administration's policies. Despite President Trump's name not being on the ballot, the White House has acknowledged that the election is largely seen as a referendum on his leadership. Surveys show President Trump's overall approval rating at 34 percent, with even lower approval on specific issues such as fuel prices (21 percent), his handling of inflation (25 percent), and his military campaign against Iran (opposed by 72 percent). Even his strongest policy areas, like mass deportations and questioning election integrity, only garner 39 percent and 41 percent public support, respectively. This widespread disapproval is causing concern among Republicans regarding their ability to maintain majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
