Ohio State University Committee Recommends Firing Professor for Assaulting Journalist
An Ohio State University committee has recommended the dismissal of Luke Perez, an assistant professor accused of assaulting a journalist on campus. The incident occurred in February when Perez allegedly tackled the journalist who was attempting to interview former Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee. A video of the event shows Perez knocking the journalist's phone out of his hand before tackling him. Perez, who has been on leave since the incident, pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge, claiming self-defense. The University Sanctioning Committee found Perez's actions to constitute workplace violence.
