ECB Survey Shows Decrease in Inflation Expectations Amid Economic Adjustments
The European Central Bank's Consumer Expectations Survey for June 2026 indicates a decrease in inflation expectations among consumers. The median perceived inflation rate over the past 12 months fell to 3.6%, down from 4.0% in May. Expectations for inflation over the next 12 months also decreased to 3.0%, and three-year expectations declined slightly to 2.8%. Despite these decreases, uncertainty about inflation expectations remains higher than pre-Middle East conflict levels. The survey also notes changes in consumer expectations for income growth, spending, and economic growth, with a slight improvement in the economic outlook and a decrease in expected unemployment rates.
