Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick Supports Critical Minerals Deals to Counter China
The United States has announced several critical minerals agreements with multiple mining companies, aiming to reduce China's dominance in the production and processing of strategic materials. President Trump, during a round table with global mining industry executives, emphasized the importance of ensuring America is not reliant on hostile foreign nations for essential resources. The measures include approximately $2 billion in investments in various mining projects domestically and internationally, along with over $180 million allocated for mining workforce development. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have also expressed concerns over China's control in this sector.
