Poll Reveals Strong Bipartisan Support for Age Caps in Congress Amid Calls for Younger Leadership
A recent NPR/PBS News/Marist poll indicates that a significant majority of Americans, across party lines, support the implementation of age caps and term limits for members of Congress. The poll, which surveyed 1,322 respondents, found that 8 in 10 Americans favor these measures, reflecting a growing sentiment that the current congressional leadership is too old. This sentiment is shared by both younger and older voters, with minimal generational differences in support. The poll highlights a desire for a new generation of leaders who are seen as more representative of the electorate, which is increasingly dominated by younger voters. The issue of age in politics has gained attention due to the advanced ages of recent and current political leaders, such as President Trump and former President Joe Biden, as well as several senior members of Congress.
