The event, part of the 'This is the Turning Point Tour at UGA,' was initially set to feature Kirk alongside Vice President Vance and Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. Vance revealed that the threats were significant enough to consider canceling the event altogether. However, after consulting with the Secret Service, it was decided to proceed without Kirk to ensure her safety and that of her family. The decision underscores the seriousness of the threats and the measures taken to protect public figures involved in political events.
