Pentagon Cancels Army Unit's Deployment to Europe Amid Troop Reductions
The Pentagon has canceled the deployment of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division to Europe, as part of a broader reduction of U.S. military presence in the region. The unit, based in Fort Hood, Texas, was scheduled to replace another brigade in Poland under Operation Atlantic Resolve, which aims to strengthen NATO forces in central and eastern Europe. The cancellation follows a Defense Department memo and coincides with the White House's announcement to withdraw 5,000 troops from Europe. This decision affects nearly 4,000 soldiers who were set to engage in joint training exercises with European partners.
