U.S. Officials Signal Progress in Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks
U.S. officials have indicated that a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine may be closer than ever following recent negotiations in Berlin. The discussions, involving U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, have reportedly resolved 90% of the issues between the two countries. The proposed peace plan includes NATO Article 5-like security guarantees for Ukraine, efforts to rebuild the country, and deterrence measures against further Russian aggression. Russia has shown openness to Ukraine joining the European Union, although final approval from leaders in Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow is still required.
