14-Year-Old Accused of Shooting Family Member, Driving Victim to Cincinnati Hospital

A 14-year-old in Colerain Township, Ohio, has been accused of shooting an adult family member multiple times and subsequently driving the victim to Mercy Health-West Hospital in Green Township. Colerain Township police responded to a report of shots fired in the 3200 block of Nandale Drive, finding evidence of a shooting but no victim at the scene. Shortly after, authorities learned an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds arrived at the hospital. Investigators identified the 14-year-old, who drove the victim, as the suspected shooter. The teenager was arrested by the Colerain Township Police Department's Criminal Investigative Unit and faces charges of second-degree felony felonious assault and third-degree felony tampering with evidence. The teen was transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Court Youth Center. The victim, who sustained serious injuries, was later transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Representative Josh Riley Introduces Federal Legislation to Shift Data Center Utility Costs from Ratepayers

U.S. Representative Josh Riley (NY-19) introduced federal legislation on August 20, named the Fair Data Act. This bill aims to mandate that data center developers and operators bear the costs for power generation, transmission, and distribution upgrades necessitated by their facilities. Currently, these expenses are often passed on to residential and small business utility customers. Speaking in West Oneonta, Riley highlighted the increasing difficulty for his constituents to manage household budgets due to rising utility costs. Residents at the event shared experiences of significantly higher electricity bills, with one Oneonta resident reporting their bill more than doubled from October 2025 to July 2026. The Union of Concerned Scientists identified 130 transmission projects approved in 2024 in the PJM region, costing approximately $4.3 billion, primarily for connecting private data centers. Over 95% of these costs were absorbed into general transmission charges, affecting all retail customers.

Severe Thunderstorm and Marine Warning Issued for Lake Erie Waters

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland has issued a Special Marine Warning for nearshore and open waters from Conneaut, OH, to Ripley, NY, until 2:15 AM EDT Monday. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts, wind gusts of 34 knots or greater, and small hail was detected 8 nautical miles northeast of Erie, PA, moving east at 10 knots. Additionally, a Small Craft Advisory and Beach Hazards Statement remain in effect through Monday evening, with west winds of 15 to 25 knots and waves of 4 to 7 feet expected. Rip currents pose a high risk to swimmers along the lakeshore.
