Indianapolis Man Accused of Defrauding Bedford High School of $1.6 Million
Authorities in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, have issued an arrest warrant for Terry Reckert, a 70-year-old man from Indianapolis, Indiana. Reckert is accused of posing as a contractor and defrauding Bedford High School of over $1.6 million. The alleged theft was discovered when the Altoona-based company hired for school renovations reported not receiving payment. Investigations revealed that Reckert had illegally cashed a check sent to the contractor and opened a business account in Evansville, Indiana, posing as an employee of the contracted company. Reckert is also accused of forging documents, including a fraudulent W9 form. The Bedford Area School District confirmed that the stolen funds, which were from a loan for renovations, have been reimbursed. Reckert faces multiple charges, including theft by unlawful taking, forgery, and tampering with records.
