Cincinnati Councilman Proposes Flood Resilience Measures After Severe Storms
Cincinnati is grappling with the aftermath of severe flash floods that recently overwhelmed the city's East Side, causing significant damage to homes and businesses. In response, City Councilman Mark Jeffreys has filed a motion to enhance the city's flood resilience. The motion includes a 30-day review to assess the city's response to the floods and identify immediate interventions. Additionally, a 60-day review is proposed to explore long-term solutions, such as stormwater detention systems, watershed studies, and infrastructure upgrades like replacing the Madison Road Bridge. The motion also highlights the financial strain on small businesses, many of which lack flood insurance, and calls for the allocation of $500,000 in the Mill Creek Watershed for near-term actions.
