Quechee Gorge Bridge Construction Completion Boosts Local Vermont Tourism
The multi-year rehabilitation project on the Quechee Gorge Bridge in Vermont has been completed, leading to a significant increase in local tourism and business activity. During the construction period, only one lane of traffic was open over the bridge, causing backups and deterring visitors. Local businesses, such as Quechee Gorge Gifts & Sportswear and the Vermont Antique Mall, reported missed opportunities and reduced customer traffic due to the construction and GPS systems rerouting drivers away from the area. With the bridge's frame and steel arch rehabilitated, repainted, and railings and sidewalks expanded, two-lane traffic has resumed, just in time for the busy foliage season.
