DiCaprio and Bezos Launch $200M Initiative for Endangered Species Conservation
Leonardo DiCaprio and Jeff Bezos have announced a $200 million initiative aimed at preventing the extinction of critically endangered species. The Phoenix Species Project, a collaboration between DiCaprio’s Re:wild organization and the Bezos Earth Fund, will focus on recovery efforts for 100 species across 30 countries. The initiative is described as the largest philanthropic effort dedicated to species recovery, with funding allocated for long-term conservation strategies. This project comes amid scrutiny of Amazon's environmental impact, particularly concerning its data centers' energy and water usage.
