Record-Breaking Heat Grips North Texas in September
North Texas is experiencing unprecedented heat this September, with temperatures consistently reaching triple digits. According to WFAA's senior meteorologist Jesse Hawila, this month has already recorded 15 days of 100°F (37.8°C) or higher, surpassing the previous record of eight days set in 2023. On average, the Dallas-Fort Worth area sees 20 days of triple-digit temperatures annually, making this September exceptionally hot. Only one day this month, September 3rd, recorded a high below 100°F, at 94°F (34.4°C). Meteorologists attribute this extreme heat to ongoing weather patterns, with little relief expected in the immediate future. El Niño conditions may bring cooler and wetter weather later in the year, but for now, residents are advised to prepare for continued high temperatures.
