Severe Thunderstorms Threaten Ohio and Indiana with Flooding and High Winds
A developing storm system is expected to bring strong to severe thunderstorms to the Cincinnati area and surrounding regions on Monday, July 27, 2026. According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the highest risk is west of Greater Cincinnati, where atmospheric instability is strongest. A mesoscale convective system is forecast to move into the area during the afternoon and evening, potentially producing damaging straight-line winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall. Additional showers and thunderstorms may redevelop Monday night into early Tuesday ahead of a surface low and cold front. Cooler air is expected to settle into the Ohio Valley later in the week, bringing temperatures closer to seasonal norms.
