Heavy Rain Disrupts Harvest in Corn Belt
Heavy rainfall, influenced by remnants of Hurricane Polo, has significantly disrupted corn and soybean harvest activities across the Midwest. States including Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois have experienced substantial precipitation, leading to flood warnings and advisories in several areas. Further east, Indiana and Ohio are also facing delays in fieldwork due to saturated soil conditions. According to the National Weather Service, a shift to a drier weather pattern is expected to provide relief, with below-normal precipitation forecasted for much of the Corn Belt starting October 5. This change should allow farmers to resume harvesting activities in the coming days.
