Cincinnati Launches Solar Co-op Program to Expand Clean Energy Access
The city of Cincinnati's Office of Environment & Sustainability has initiated the Southwest Ohio 2026 Solar Co-op Program. This new initiative aims to provide residents, small businesses, and small nonprofits across multiple municipalities and counties in Southwest Ohio, including Hamilton, Clermont, Warren, and others, with affordable access to solar energy. The program operates on a community-based purchasing model, bringing together building owners interested in solar energy to leverage group-buying power. This approach facilitates competitive pricing on solar panels and offers more transparent and cost-effective energy systems. Participants in the free co-op will receive education on solar technology, financing options, available incentives, and the installation process. A solar installer will be selected competitively, with pricing and services negotiated on behalf of the group. Interested parties are encouraged to join the cohort before December 1, 2026.
