Prosecutor Declines Felony Charges for Man Accused of Lunging at Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate Amy Acton
Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro has stated that no felony charges will be filed against Patrick Havas, 38, who was accused of lunging at Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton at the Canfield Fair. Havas was arrested on two counts of assault and one misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, with an additional misdemeanor charge of inciting panic added later. He pleaded not guilty to the four misdemeanors and was released on a $5,000 bond, with orders to surrender his weapons and avoid contact with Acton. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Havas forced his way through a crowd towards Acton, knocking multiple fairgoers over, and was found to be in possession of a taser and two pistols. However, Maro emphasized that the weapons were never unholstered or used, and their possession was legal under Ohio's open-carry laws.
