Tens of Thousands Without Power After Derecho Hits Cincinnati
A powerful derecho swept through Greater Cincinnati, leaving extensive damage and widespread power outages. As of 6:45 a.m. EDT on August 13, 2026, over 49,800 Duke Energy customers remain without electricity, with additional outages reported for Owen Electric customers. The storm caused downed power lines, fallen trees, and blocked roads, particularly in areas like Green Township and Westwood. Restoration efforts are ongoing but are expected to be delayed due to incoming rain. Some neighborhoods have yet to be assigned repair crews, and residents are bracing for prolonged outages.
