Central State University Receives $1.7 Million Grant from U.S. Department of Education
Central State University, Ohio's only public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), has been awarded a $1.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This funding was provided through the Supplemental Historically Black Colleges and Universities Grant program. The grant is part of a larger nationwide investment exceeding $174 million aimed at strengthening HBCUs and expanding educational opportunities for their students. Congressman Mike Turner, R-Ohio, expressed his satisfaction with this investment, highlighting his ongoing partnership with Central State University to enhance its access to federal resources as an 1890 land-grant institution. The university's president, Morakinyo A.O. Kuti, stated that the funds will support efforts to ensure sustainable growth, empower faculty, and advance the institution's mission, ultimately preparing students to contribute to Ohio's workforce.
